Tips for oily skin

Having oily skin is quite frustrating for anyone because it can cause problems like acne in the long run. Such skin also sweats lot. So, most of the people try to use the cleansers present in the market that can wipe away this extra oil. But, using such cleansers is not a great idea as they can make the skin dry. Don’t insist on buying cleansers with high acidic content. This dryness reaction of the skin is called reactive seborrhea. In this reaction, the sebum glands of the skin work excessively to reduce the dryness induced by the cleansers. People with oily skin also take more hot showers to get rid of the oiliness. Beware from such hot showers as they can have an impact on the skin increasing it sebum production. Also, bathing with hot water frequently can also harm the hair with production of dandruff.

Although you might feel hesitant in using the moisturizers as they can increase the greasiness of the skin, the truth is that not using them can cause dryness. It’s advised to use moisturizers when the face is cleansed. The moisturizer should contain a high amount of anti-oxidants so that the skin is able to get its moisture content.  Anti-oxidants can also reverse the aging process by reducing the process of free radical production. They can also make the skin get back its glow. Antioxidants encourage the production of skin pigments like collagen and elastin to ensure that the skin does not develop any wrinkles.

Using skincare products that bear alcohol is also not recommended. It can dry out the skin. Apart from that, alcohols are applied highly in skin care products. Such products can produce the initial reaction of making the skin dry only to result in a higher oil production later.  So, go through the ingredients of the skin care products not to land up with those containing alcohol. After taking a shower, it’s better to use a moisturizer so that the moisture on the skin is trapped well.

Also, people with an oily skin are prone to washing their face repeatedly in the day. This can also lead to excessive dryness. Hence it’s better to get a face wash that is gentle on the face. Still don’t wash your face more than 2 times, once in the morning and in night. Diet also contributes to the excessive production of sebum in the skin. Hence, avoid fried food stuffs. Sometimes, the production of hormones in the body is low which contributes to the oiliness of the skin. So, it can be stimulated with foods that have high sugar content.

Oily skin is the result of lack of moisture in the skin. So, hydrating gels and face wash can be used to provide moisture in the skin and make it more firm and supple. It’s necessary to take care of such skin on time because if that’s not done, the skin can also get pimples. So, make sure that you get the right kind of toners and moisturizers from the market for an oil free skin.
